Job Description

If so, Mainehealth is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our team.As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of medical equipment and instruments. Your attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols will help prevent the spread of infections and promote a safe environment for patients.   1. Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of medical equipment and instruments through proper processing and handling techniques.
  2. Adhere to strict infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients.
  3. Perform inspections, assembly, and packaging of medical instruments and supplies according to established guidelines.
  4. Operate sterilization equipment and monitor effectiveness of sterilization processes.
  5. Maintain accurate records of processed items and sterilization cycles.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure timely availability of sterile equipment and supplies.
  7. Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare professionals regarding instrument and supply needs.
  8. Stay current on industry standards and best practices related to sterile processing.
  9. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  11. Train and mentor new sterile processing technicians as needed.
  12. Adhere to all safety and security protocols in the sterile processing area.
  13. Comply with all regulations and policies related to sterile processing and infection control.
  14. Maintain a neat and organized work area to facilitate efficient processing of equipment and supplies.
  15. Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology and the functions of various medical instruments.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Sterile Processing Technician Training Program Or Equivalent Experience In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Certification As A Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Or Certified Sterile Processing And Distribution Technician (Cspdt).

  • Knowledge Of Infection Control Principles And Procedures Related To Sterile Processing And Equipment Sterilization.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills For Working With Healthcare Staff And Patients.
