Job Description

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Pathologist Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing outstanding patient care and have a deep knowledge of pathology. In this role, the Pathologist Assistant will work closely with our pathology team to help analyze and diagnose pathology specimens.The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in pathology or a related field, be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Pathologist Assistant, and have at least three years of related experience. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work well in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities of a Pathologist Assistant:

  1. Perform tissue specimen collection, processing, and evaluation under the direction of a pathologist.
  2. Document laboratory activities accurately, including data collection, analysis, and results.
  3. Prepare and review pathology reports, summaries, and slides.
  4. Provide patient education and support related to pathology and lab services.
  5. Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance and safety standards.
  6. Maintain equipment, supplies, and records in an organized manner.
  7. Develop and maintain professional relationships with referral centers and other medical personnel.
  8. Participate in research activities and clinical trials as assigned.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
