- Collaborate with students, faculty, and researchers to understand their information needs and provide appropriate resources and support.
- Promote and encourage the use of library resources and services among the science community at UNC Charlotte.
- Develop and maintain a strong collection of science-related materials, both in physical and digital formats.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends and developments in science librarianship and information literacy, and apply them to improve library services.
- Provide reference and research assistance to patrons, including instruction on how to effectively use library resources.
- Plan and conduct workshops and training sessions on information literacy and research skills for students and faculty in the sciences.
- Collaborate with other librarians and departments to develop and implement programs and services that support science education and research.
- Participate in collection development activities, including selecting and acquiring materials, evaluating current collections, and making recommendations for future purchases.
- Serve as a liaison to specific science departments or programs, building relationships and understanding their unique information needs.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of the library's online presence, including creating and maintaining subject guides and instructional materials.
- Actively engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of science librarianship.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess and improve library services, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote the library and its resources to the wider campus community.
- Support the mission and goals of the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and the library, and contribute to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Master's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field, With A Strong Background In Science Or Engineering.
Experience Working In A Research Or Academic Library, Preferably In A Science-Related Field.
Knowledge Of Current Trends And Technologies In Science Librarianship, Including Data Management And Open Access Publishing.
Familiarity With Relevant Databases, Resources, And Tools Used In The Sciences, Such As Pubmed, Web Of Science, And Scifinder.
Excellent Communication And Instruction Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Faculty, Students, And Researchers In A Diverse Academic Community.
