Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of all medical equipment and instruments according to industry standards and infection control protocols.
Conduct routine quality assurance checks to ensure equipment is functioning properly and maintain accurate records of all sterilization processes.
Collaborate with the nursing and surgical teams to ensure timely delivery of sterilized equipment and supplies for procedures.
Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Train and educate staff on proper sterilization and infection control practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the sterile processing area.
Identify and report any issues or malfunctions with equipment to the appropriate personnel.
Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines and maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Continuously stay updated on industry advancements and best practices in sterilization and infection control.
Participate in department meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction by providing exceptional service and support to healthcare staff.
Follow established protocols and procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive patient information.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications

Sterile Processing Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Sterile Processing Certification From An Accredited Institution, Demonstrating Their Knowledge And Skills In Decontamination, Sterilization, And Packaging Of Medical Instruments And Equipment.
Experience In A Hospital Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Or Healthcare Facility, Preferably In A Sterile Processing Department, Is Highly Desirable. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With The Unique Challenges And Requirements Of Working In A Sterile Environment.
Knowledge Of Infection Control Practices: A Thorough Understanding Of Infection Control Practices And Procedures Is Crucial For A Sterile Processing Technician. This Includes Knowledge Of Sterilization Methods, Aseptic Techniques, And Proper Handling Of Contaminated Materials.
Attention To Detail: A Sterile Processing Technician Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures. This Is Essential To Ensure That All Medical Equipment And Instruments Are Properly Cleaned, Sterilized, And Packaged, Reducing The Risk Of Infections And Ensuring Patient Safety.
Strong Communication Skills: As A Sterile Processing Technician, Effective Communication Is Essential. This Includes Communicating Clearly With Other Healthcare Professionals, Following Instructions Accurately, And Documenting All Procedures Accurately. Strong Communication Skills Also Enable Technicians To Work Well In A Team And Collaborate Effectively To Complete Tasks Efficiently.
