Welcome to the City of Sunnyvale! We are currently seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Recreation team as a Project/Grant Assistant. This exciting role will support the planning and implementation of various recreational programs and events throughout our community. As a Project/Grant Assistant, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our dedicated team and play a vital role in securing funding for our programs through grant writing and management.   1. Collaborate with the Recreation team to plan and implement various recreational programs and events in the community.
  2. Assist in the development and management of grant proposals to secure funding for recreational programs.
  3. Conduct research and gather information for grant opportunities and funding sources.
  4. Prepare and submit grant applications according to deadlines and guidelines.
  5. Maintain accurate records of grant application submissions and outcomes.
  6. Work closely with program coordinators and event organizers to ensure successful execution of projects and events.
  7. Assist in tracking and managing budgets for recreational programs and events.
  8. Coordinate with external partners and stakeholders to enhance the success of grant-funded projects.
  9. Attend meetings and conferences related to grant writing and project management.
  10. Provide regular updates and reports on the progress of grant-funded projects.
  11. Support program evaluation and assessment efforts to measure the impact of recreational programs on the community.
  12. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in grant writing and project management.
  13. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and procedures.
  14. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the City of Sunnyvale positively to external partners and stakeholders.
  15. Perform any other duties assigned by the Recreation team or supervisor related to project and grant management.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Grant Writing And Project Management: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Writing Grant Proposals And Managing Projects Within The Recreation Field. This Includes Knowledge Of Budgeting, Coordinating With Multiple Stakeholders, And Tracking Project Progress.

  • Knowledge Of Recreation Programs And Services: A Strong Understanding Of The Various Recreation Programs And Services Offered By The City Of Sunnyvale Is Essential For This Role. This Includes Knowledge Of Community Needs, Trends In The Recreation Industry, And Best Practices In Program Development And Evaluation.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Colleagues, Community Members, And Funding Agencies Is Crucial For This Role. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Also Necessary For Building And Maintaining Relationships With Stakeholders And Partners.

  • Attention To Detail And Organizational Skills: As A Project/Grant Assistant, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing Multiple Tasks And Deadlines. The Ability To Pay Attention To Detail, Prioritize Tasks, And Stay Organized Is Essential For Success In This Position.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management Or Related Field: A Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Business Administration, Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Role.
