Job Description

The American Red Cross is seeking a Community Recovery Manager for the Hurricane Helene & Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the long-term recovery operation in the affected communities.
  2. Manage and lead a team of volunteers and staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of recovery services.
  3. Identify and assess the needs of the affected communities and develop appropriate recovery programs and initiatives.
  4. Collaborate with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to coordinate and maximize resources for recovery efforts.
  5. Monitor progress and evaluate the impact of recovery programs, making adjustments as needed.
  6. Ensure compliance with Red Cross policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners to secure funding and support for recovery initiatives.
  8. Provide support and guidance to individuals and families affected by the hurricanes, including assistance with accessing resources and navigating the recovery process.
  9. Collaborate with other Red Cross departments and teams to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to community recovery.
  10. Stay up-to-date on disaster recovery best practices and incorporate them into the operation as appropriate.
  11. Prepare and submit reports and updates to the Red Cross leadership team and external stakeholders.
  12. Represent the Red Cross in meetings, events, and media engagements related to the recovery operation.
  13. Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members and volunteers involved in the recovery operation.
  14. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all recovery activities.
  15. Uphold the mission and values of the American Red Cross in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Disaster Recovery: A Community Recovery Manager Should Have Prior Experience In Disaster Recovery, Specifically In Managing Long-Term Recovery Operations Related To Hurricanes. This Includes Knowledge Of Fema Guidelines And Procedures, As Well As Experience Working With Local And State Government Agencies.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: The Role Of A Community Recovery Manager Requires Strong Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage A Team Of Recovery Specialists And Volunteers. This Includes The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Make Difficult Decisions, And Motivate Team Members During Challenging Situations.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Liaison Between The American Red Cross And The Local Community, A Community Recovery Manager Must Have Excellent Communication Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Disaster Survivors, Community Leaders, And Other Stakeholders To Coordinate Recovery Efforts.

  • Knowledge Of Community Resources: In Order To Effectively Support The Long-Term Recovery Of A Community, A Community Recovery Manager Should Have Knowledge Of Local Resources And Services Available To Disaster Survivors. This Includes Understanding The Various Types Of Assistance Available And How To Connect Survivors With The Appropriate Resources.

  • Flexibility And Adaptability: The Role Of A Community Recovery Manager Can Be Unpredictable And Requires The Ability To Adapt To Changing Circumstances. This Includes Being Able To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment, As Well As Being Flexible With Work Hours And Duties As Needed During A Disaster Response.
