  1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients' communication and swallowing abilities using a variety of standardized tests and clinical observations.
  2. Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment results and patient/family input.
  3. Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to address speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to provide coordinated and interdisciplinary care.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  6. Educate patients and their families on speech and swallowing strategies and techniques to use at home.
  7. Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss and review patient progress and treatment plans.
  8. Stay current with advancements in the field of speech-language pathology and incorporate new research and techniques into clinical practice.
  9. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and state licensing board.
  10. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
  12. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
  13. Attend continuing education courses and workshops to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  14. Assist with training and supervising speech therapy students and clinical fellows.
  15. Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

  • Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology: The First And Most Important Qualification For A Speech-Language Pathologist Job At Uvm Medical Center Is A Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology. This Degree Is Required For Licensure And Certification As A Speech-Language Pathologist.

  • State Licensure And Asha Certification: In Addition To A Master's Degree, Candidates Must Also Hold A Valid State License And Certification From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha).
