Develop and maintain robust and scalable systems to support Natera's bioinformatics operations.
Lead and manage a team of site reliability engineers to ensure smooth functioning of bioinformatics systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions for system improvements and enhancements.
Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to address and prevent issues.
Conduct regular system maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal functioning.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members and other stakeholders.
Stay updated on latest developments in bioinformatics and technology, and incorporate them into Natera's operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve system failures and performance issues in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain documentation for systems and processes.
Ensure compliance with industry and company standards for data security and privacy.
Mentor and train junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Participate in on-call rotation to address critical system issues.
Work closely with software engineering team to develop and test new bioinformatics tools and applications.
Collaborate with project managers to develop and manage project plans and timelines.
Continuously evaluate and improve processes to increase efficiency and reliability of bioinformatics systems.

Job Qualifications

Expertise In Bioinformatics: The Ideal Candidate For Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Production Bioinformatics At Natera Should Have A Strong Background In Bioinformatics And A Deep Understanding Of The Tools, Algorithms, And Processes Used In This Field. This Qualification Is Essential To Ensure That The Candidate Can Effectively Support And Troubleshoot The Production Bioinformatics Pipelines And Systems At Natera.
Extensive Experience In Site Reliability Engineering: A Lead Site Reliability Engineer Is Responsible For Ensuring The Reliability, Availability, And Performance Of Natera's Bioinformatics Production Systems. As Such, The Candidate Should Have Significant Experience In Site Reliability Engineering, Including Designing And Implementing Scalable, Highly Available, And Fault-Tolerant Systems.
Proficiency In Programming And Automation: Natera Relies Heavily On Automation And Software Development To Support Its Bioinformatics Production Processes. Therefore, The Lead Site Reliability Engineer Should Have A Strong Programming Background And Be Proficient In Languages Such As Python, Java, Or Perl. Knowledge Of Automation Tools Like Ansible And Configuration Management Tools Like Puppet Or Chef Is Also Highly Desirable.
Knowledge Of Cloud Computing Technologies: Natera's Bioinformatics Production Systems Are Hosted On Cloud Platforms Such As Aws And Azure. The Lead Site Reliability Engineer Should Have A Deep Understanding Of These Platforms And Be Able To Leverage Their Features To Optimize The Performance And Reliability Of Natera's Bioinformatics Pipelines. Experience With Containerization Technologies Like Docker And Kubernetes Is Also A Plus.
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Lead Site Reliability Engineer, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Engineers And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams To Ensure The Smooth Operation Of Natera's Production Bioinformatics Systems. Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills Are, Therefore, Essential Qualifications For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Able To Effectively Prioritize Tasks And Delegate Responsibilities To Team Members.
