- Administer radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients under the direction of a physician.
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
- Monitor patients during treatment sessions and report any adverse reactions or changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Educate patients on the radiation therapy process, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
- Ensure patient safety by following radiation safety protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of radiation therapy supplies and equipment.
- Stay current on advancements and changes in radiation therapy technology and techniques.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients during treatment sessions.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Collaborate with other members of the cancer center team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in the delivery of patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Act as a positive representative of Mercy's Cancer Center and promote a caring and compassionate environment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications
Excellent Communication And Patient Care Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Multidisciplinary Team.
Current Certification From The American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt) In Radiation Therapy.
Bachelor's Degree In Radiation Therapy From An Accredited Institution.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Cancer Center.
Knowledge Of Radiation Safety Procedures And Regulations.
