As the Director, you will play a pivotal role in preserving and promoting our extensive collection of films, while also providing critical support to our academic community. - Oversee the daily operations and management of the Yale Film Archive, ensuring the preservation and accessibility of the collection.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the acquisition, cataloging, and preservation of new film materials.
- Collaborate with other university departments and external organizations to expand the collection and promote its use for academic research and educational purposes.
- Supervise and mentor a team of archival staff, providing guidance and support in their roles.
- Participate in fundraising and grant writing efforts to secure funding for the archive’s ongoing preservation and expansion projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with filmmakers, distributors, and other industry professionals to enhance the collection and promote the archive’s resources.
- Plan and oversee public events, screenings, and exhibitions related to the film archive, engaging the university community and the general public.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in film preservation and technology, and implement best practices to ensure the long-term preservation of the collection.
- Work closely with faculty and students to support their research and teaching needs, providing access to the film archive’s resources and expertise.
- Serve as a representative for the Yale Film Archive at conferences, meetings, and other professional events, promoting the archive’s mission and accomplishments.
Bachelor's Or Advanced Degree In Film Studies, Library Science, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Film Archive Or Related Institution.
Demonstrated Knowledge Of Film Preservation And Conservation Techniques.
Experience Managing A Team And Overseeing Collection Development And Acquisitions.
Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work With Faculty, Staff, And Students In A University Setting.
