  1. Conduct thorough testing of APIs to ensure they meet security standards and identify any vulnerabilities or weaknesses.
  2. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for API security.
  3. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential security threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security measures are integrated into the development process.
  5. Stay updated on the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices in API security testing.
  6. Document and communicate any security issues or concerns to relevant stakeholders.
  7. Work with developers to implement security fixes and enhancements.
  8. Conduct security reviews and audits of existing APIs to identify areas for improvement.
  9. Investigate and troubleshoot any security incidents or breaches related to APIs.
  10. Participate in security training and awareness programs to promote a culture of security within the organization.
  11. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive information.
  12. Provide regular reports and updates on the status of API security testing to management.
  13. Actively contribute to the improvement of API testing processes and procedures.
  14. Mentor and assist junior team members in developing their skills in API security testing.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong Knowledge Of Api Security Protocols And Standards: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Api Security Protocols Such As Oauth, Openid Connect, And Jwt. They Should Also Be Familiar With Industry Standards For Api Security, Such As Owasp Api Security Top 10.

  • Experience With Api Testing Tools: The Candidate Should Have Hands-On Experience With Tools Such As Postman, Soapui, Or Jmeter For Testing Apis. They Should Be Able To Design And Execute Api Security Tests, Analyze Results, And Provide Recommendations For Improvement.

  • Understanding Of Web Application Security: Since Apis Are Often Used In Web Applications, The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Web Application Security Principles And Techniques. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Vulnerabilities And How To Mitigate Them.

  • Familiarity With Programming Languages: The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Programming Languages Such As Java, Python, Or Javascript, As Apis Are Usually Built Using These Languages. They Should Be Able To Read And Understand Api Code, As Well As Write Scripts For Automated Security Testing.

  • Communication And Documentation Skills: Api Security Testing Involves Working With Cross-Functional Teams, Including Developers, Testers, And Security Professionals. The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate Findings And Recommendations. They Should Also Be Able To Document Their Findings And Create Reports For Stakeholders.
