- Perform cytology tests and accurately analyze cell samples for signs of disease, specifically cancer.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and tools necessary for cytology testing.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate results and findings to supervising medical staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all tests and procedures performed.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Stay current with advancements and developments in the field of cytology and implement new techniques and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate with other laboratory staff and medical professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards related to patient confidentiality and data privacy.
- Participate in continuing education and training to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing accurate and efficient services to patients.
- Adhere to all company policies and protocols and actively participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or Related Field: Candidates For A Cytotechnologist Position At Tricore Reference Laboratories Should Possess A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or A Related Field. This Degree Should Be From An Accredited Program And Provide A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Cytology.
Certification From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp): Tricore Requires All Cytotechnologists To Be Certified By The Ascp As A Cytotechnologist (Ct). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Knowledge In The Field Of Cytology.
Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, Preferably In A Cytology Department. This Experience Should Include Hands-On Experience With The Preparation And Examination Of Cytology Specimens.
Proficiency In Using Microscopy And Other Laboratory Equipment: Cytotechnologists At Tricore Reference Laboratories Must Have Excellent Skills In Using A Microscope And Other Laboratory Equipment. They Should Be Able To Accurately Identify Abnormal Cells And Accurately Document Their Findings.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As Part Of A Team Of Laboratory Professionals, Cytotechnologists At Tricore Must Possess Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate Findings To Other Members Of The Healthcare Team And Collaborate With Colleagues To Ensure Accurate And Timely Results.
