  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive data science strategy that aligns with CarMax's overall business objectives.
  2. Lead and manage a team of data scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  3. Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large, complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
  4. Develop predictive models and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in customer behavior, sales, and inventory data.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and opportunities where data science can provide valuable solutions.
  6. Communicate complex data findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science and recommend new tools and techniques to improve data analysis processes.
  8. Establish data governance and quality standards to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
  9. Drive the development and maintenance of data infrastructure and systems to support data science initiatives.
  10. Work closely with IT and other business functions to ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations.

  12. Lead the development and delivery of data-driven presentations and reports to senior leadership.
  13. Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the data science team.
  14. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to leverage their expertise and resources in data science.
  15. Represent CarMax at industry conferences and events, showcasing our data science capabilities and thought leadership.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 7 Years Of Experience In Data Science Or Related Field, With At Least 3 Years In A Senior Management Role.

  • Proven Track Record Of Leading And Managing A Team Of Data Scientists And Analysts, With The Ability To Mentor And Develop Junior Team Members.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Utilize Data To Drive Strategic Business Decisions.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Data Science Methodologies And Tools, Including Machine Learning, Statistical Analysis, And Data Visualization.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams And Present Complex Data Findings To Senior Leadership.
