  1. Develop and implement labor relations strategies and policies to promote positive workplace relationships and enhance employee satisfaction and engagement.
  2. Serve as a subject matter expert on labor laws and regulations and provide guidance and support to management on compliance and best practices.
  3. Conduct thorough research and analysis of labor trends, industry standards, and collective bargaining agreements to inform decision-making and negotiations.
  4. Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to proactively address labor relations issues and develop effective solutions.
  5. Facilitate negotiations and contract renewals with labor unions, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for both parties.
  6. Advise and assist management in resolving complex employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and workplace conflicts.
  7. Conduct training and education sessions for managers and employees on labor relations policies, procedures, and regulations.
  8. Provide guidance and support to HR staff and managers in the interpretation and application of union contracts.
  9. Serve as a liaison between the organization and labor unions, maintaining open communication and promoting a collaborative and productive relationship.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance and proactively address potential issues.
  11. Act as an advocate for employee satisfaction and engagement, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  12. Mentor and coach junior staff members in labor relations practices and strategies.
  13. Prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior leadership on labor relations issues and initiatives.
  14. Represent the organization in labor relations-related hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
  15. Collaborate with other HR professionals to develop and implement organization-wide initiatives to improve employee relations and engagement.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Labor Laws And Regulations: A Senior Labor Relations Consultant At Yale New Haven Health System Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Federal, State, And Local Labor Laws And Regulations. This Includes Knowledge Of The National Labor Relations Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, And Relevant Collective Bargaining Agreements.

  • Experience With Collective Bargaining And Contract Negotiation: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements And Resolving Labor Disputes. This Requires Strong Communication, Negotiation, And Conflict Resolution Skills.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Abilities: The Senior Labor Relations Consultant Will Be Responsible For Analyzing Labor Trends, Identifying Potential Issues, And Developing Strategies To Address Them. This Requires Excellent Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills, As Well As The Ability To Propose Creative Solutions To Complex Problems.

  • Demonstrated Leadership And Management Skills: This Role May Involve Managing A Team Of Labor Relations Professionals, So The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In A Leadership Or Management Role. They Should Possess The Ability To Motivate And Guide A Team Towards Achieving Organizational Goals.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Required, Candidates With Prior Experience In Labor Relations Within A Healthcare Organization Will Be Preferred. This Experience Provides A Deeper Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Dynamics Of Labor Relations In The Healthcare Industry.
