Welcome to the Yale New Haven Health System team! We are currently seeking a Release of Information Technician II to join our growing organization. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for processing and releasing confidential medical information in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual with previous experience in medical record management and strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations.   1. Process and release confidential medical information in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and ensure the privacy and security of patient information.
  3. Utilize electronic health record systems to accurately and efficiently retrieve and process medical records.
  4. Verify patient identity and authorization for the release of medical information.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other internal departments to fulfill requests for medical records.
  6. Review and redact sensitive information in accordance with legal requirements.
  7. Keep accurate and detailed records of all requests and releases of medical information.
  8. Ensure timely and accurate responses to all requests for medical records.
  9. Stay up-to-date on changes in regulations and laws related to the release of medical information.
  10. Train and mentor new team members on release of information procedures and protocols.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to resolve any issues or concerns.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  13. Attend regular meetings and training sessions to improve knowledge and skills.
  14. Assist with quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  15. Collaborate with IT and other departments to troubleshoot any technical issues related to the release of information process.
  16. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve processes and efficiency.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Release Of Information Role.

  • Proficient In Electronic Health Record Systems, Specifically Epic.

  • Knowledge Of Hipaa Regulations And Privacy Laws Related To Release Of Information.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Maintain Accuracy In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information.
