- Monitor and maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations related to radiation safety within the health system.
- Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of all radiation equipment and facilities to ensure safe and proper functioning.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures for handling and disposing of radioactive materials.
- Train and educate staff on radiation safety protocols and procedures.
- Respond to and investigate any incidents or concerns related to radiation safety, and take appropriate corrective action as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and advancements in radiation safety practices, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all radiation safety activities and incidents.
- Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and participate in any required audits or inspections.
- Serve as a resource for staff and answer any questions or concerns related to radiation safety.
- Provide guidance and support to radiation safety trainees and assist with their development.
- Participate in emergency response drills and provide support during actual emergencies involving radiation.
- Communicate with patients and their families about radiation safety measures and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for the safe handling and disposal of radioactive waste.
- Continuously evaluate and improve radiation safety practices within the health system.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Physics, Radiation Health, Or A Related Field.
Certification From The National Registry Of Radiation Protection Technologists (Nrrpt).
At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Radiation Safety Or Radiation Protection.
Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To Radiation Safety, Including Osha And Nrc Guidelines.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Medical Staff, Patients, And Other Personnel Regarding Radiation Safety Procedures And Protocols.
