
Polysomnographic Tech

- Conduct sleep studies: Perform overnight sleep studies on patients to diagnose and treat sleep disorders.
- Administer sleep tests: Administer and monitor various sleep tests, including polysomnograms, multiple sleep latency tests, and maintenance of wakefulness tests.
- Prepare patients: Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and providing instructions on how to use equipment.
- Monitor patients: Monitor patients during sleep studies to ensure proper placement and functioning of equipment, and respond to any patient needs or concerns.
- Analyze data: Analyze sleep study data to identify patterns and abnormalities and assist in diagnosing sleep disorders.
- Maintain equipment: Maintain and troubleshoot sleep study equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
- Educate patients: Educate patients on sleep hygiene and provide recommendations for improving sleep quality.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with sleep disorders.
- Document and report: Accurately document and report all findings and observations during sleep studies for proper diagnosis and treatment.
- Stay updated on industry developments: Stay informed about the latest advancements and developments in the field of sleep medicine to provide the most current and effective treatment options for patients.
- Uphold quality standards: Maintain high standards of quality and patient care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive environment: Foster a positive and supportive work environment by collaborating with team members and promoting a culture of teamwork and growth.
- Adhere to safety protocols: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Attend trainings and conferences: Attend trainings and conferences to stay updated on new techniques and technologies in sleep medicine.
- Uphold patient confidentiality: Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Certification In Polysomnography: Applicants Must Hold A Valid Certification In Polysomnography From An Accredited Institution, Such As The Board Of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (Brpt).
Experience In Sleep Medicine: Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Who Have Previous Experience Working In A Sleep Medicine Clinic Or Laboratory, Conducting Sleep Studies And Scoring Results.
Knowledge Of Sleep Disorders: A Thorough Understanding Of Various Sleep Disorders, Their Causes And Treatments Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Must Have Knowledge Of Diagnostic Criteria, Treatment Options, And Current Research In The Field.
Technical Skills: Polysomnographic Techs Must Have Strong Technical Skills To Operate And Troubleshoot The Various Equipment Used During Sleep Studies, Such As Eeg, Ecg, And Respiratory Monitors. Experience With Software Used For Sleep Study Analysis Is Also Desirable.
Communication And Teamwork: The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Crucial For This Role. Candidates Must Also Be Able To Work Effectively In A Team Environment, Collaborating With Other Polysomnographic Techs, Sleep Physicians, And Other Healthcare Staff.
