  1. Provide high-quality medical services to patients in the emergency department, including performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, and prescribing medications.
  2. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  3. Assess and triage patients based on their medical needs and urgency of care.
  4. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies as needed.
  5. Administer emergency treatments and procedures, such as suturing, splinting, and wound care.
  6. Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  8. Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions and treatment plans.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  10. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on best practices and advancements in emergency medicine.
  11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  12. Maintain a compassionate and caring attitude towards patients and their families, providing emotional support and comfort during times of distress.
  13. Respond to emergency situations and assist in the management of mass casualty incidents.
  14. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  15. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting open communication and teamwork among colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Physician Assistant Studies: Candidates For The Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine Job At Yale New Haven Health System Must Possess A Master's Degree In Physician Assistant Studies From An Accredited Program. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Medical Knowledge And Clinical Skills Necessary For The Role.

  • Current Certification As A Physician Assistant: Candidates Must Hold Current Certification As A Physician Assistant From The National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (Nccpa). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Rigorous Standards Set By The Profession.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Emergency Medicine: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Physician Assistant In An Emergency Medicine Setting. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle High-Pressure And Fast-Paced Environments.

  • Proficient In Emergency Procedures And Protocols: The Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Emergency Procedures And Protocols. This Includes The Ability To Quickly Diagnose And Treat A Wide Range Of Emergency Conditions, As Well As The Knowledge Of Appropriate Medications And Treatments.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Member Of The Emergency Medicine Team, The Physician Assistant Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals In High-Stress Situations. Strong Teamwork And Collaboration Skills Are Also Essential For Success In This Role.
