  1. Work directly with patients to help them understand and navigate the complex world of healthcare finance.
  2. Advocate for patients by ensuring they have access to the care they need, regardless of their financial situation.
  3. Provide guidance and education to patients on insurance policies and financial assistance programs.
  4. Collaborate with various departments within the healthcare system to streamline the financial access process for patients.
  5. Conduct financial screenings and assessments to determine patient eligibility for financial assistance.
  6. Assist patients in applying for and obtaining financial assistance programs.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and financial assistance provided.
  8. Stay up-to-date on changes and updates in insurance policies and financial assistance programs.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any financial issues.
  10. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance knowledge and skills.
  11. Uphold the values and mission of Yale New Haven Health System.
  12. Embody compassion, empathy, and understanding when working with patients.
  13. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective operations within the financial access department.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Healthcare Administration, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Patients, Insurance Companies, And Healthcare Providers.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Patient Financial Services Or Revenue Cycle Management.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Billing And Insurance Processes, Including Medicare, Medicaid, And Commercial Insurance Plans.

  • Proficient In Using Electronic Health Record Systems And Financial Software, With The Ability To Accurately And Efficiently Process Payments And Maintain Patient Financial Records.
