- Conduct respiratory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, nebulizers, and chest physiotherapy, to patients according to physician orders.
- Monitor patient response to treatments and adjust therapies as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
- Document all patient interactions, treatments, and progress in medical records.
- Respond to respiratory emergencies and provide critical care as needed.
- Maintain and operate respiratory equipment and ensure proper disinfection and maintenance procedures are followed.
- Stay up-to-date on current respiratory therapies, techniques, and equipment through continuing education and training.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, in the delivery of respiratory care.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion in all patient interactions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Work collaboratively with other respiratory therapists and healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and efficient team approach to patient care.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following infection control and safety protocols.
- Keep accurate records of respiratory supplies and equipment and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy: Candidates For The Night Respiratory Therapist Position At Yale New Haven Health System Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy From An Accredited Institution.
Current Respiratory Therapy License: Applicants Should Hold A Current And Valid Respiratory Therapy License From The State Of Connecticut Or Be Eligible For Licensure Within The State.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Certification: Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Who Hold The Rrt Credential From The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc).
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Acute Care Setting: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Respiratory Therapist In A Hospital Or Acute Care Setting.
Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: The Night Respiratory Therapist Will Be Responsible For Providing Care To Critically Ill Patients, Therefore, Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Team Members And Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In Emergency Situations.
