Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree Is Typically Required For A Medical Lab Scientist Position At Yale New Haven Health System. This Degree Should Be In Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Or A Related Field Such As Biology Or Chemistry.
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls): Candidates Should Have A Current And Valid Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist From A Recognized Certifying Agency, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or American Medical Technologists (Amt).
Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting. This Experience Should Include Proficiency In Performing Various Laboratory Tests And Procedures, As Well As Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment And Instruments.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Medical Lab Scientists At Yale New Haven Health System Are Expected To Have Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Abilities. They Must Be Able To Accurately Interpret Test Results, Troubleshoot Technical Issues, And Make Sound Decisions Based On Laboratory Data.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As Part Of A Larger Healthcare Team, Medical Lab Scientists Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Laboratory Technicians.
