
Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine

- Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
- Assist physicians with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and updating patient records.
- Schedule appointments and manage the physician’s schedule to ensure efficient operation of the clinic.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including medical histories, test results, and treatment plans.
- Ensure that all medical equipment is properly sterilized and maintained for safe use.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments for patients as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls, processing paperwork, and managing patient files.
- Provide patients with education and resources regarding their medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and address any patient care concerns or issues.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance the overall patient experience.
- Attend required trainings and meetings to stay updated on policies, procedures, and industry developments.

Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates Must Have Successfully Completed A Medical Assistant Program From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Required In An Internal Medicine Setting.
Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Or Registered Medical Assistant (Rma) Certification: Possessing A Cma Or Rma Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Passed A Rigorous Exam And Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Work As A Medical Assistant. This Certification Also Ensures That The Candidate Is Up-To-Date With The Latest Medical Practices And Procedures.
Previous Experience In Internal Medicine: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working In An Internal Medicine Setting. This Includes Performing Tasks Such As Taking Patient Histories, Assisting With Physical Examinations, And Administering Medications. Previous Experience In A Similar Role Will Ensure That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Specific Needs And Requirements Of Working In An Internal Medicine Department.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Medical Assistants At Yale New Haven Health System Are Expected To Have Excellent Communication Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Also Important For Building Rapport With Patients And Ensuring Their Comfort And Well-Being.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Commonly Used In Internal Medicine. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Diseases And Conditions, Diagnostic Tests, And Treatment Plans.
