- Provide exceptional and compassionate care to new mothers and their newborns.
- Support and guide new mothers during their postpartum and recovery period.
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of new mothers and their newborns.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and their families.
- Document patient care accurately and timely.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of patients and their families.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to new mothers experiencing postpartum depression or other challenges.
- Stay updated on current best practices and evidence-based guidelines for maternity care.
- Assist with the delivery of newborns if needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the maternity team.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Continuously evaluate and improve own nursing practice.
- Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and trainings.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to new nursing staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Higher: A Maternity Rn At Yale New Haven Health System Must Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Higher From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Comprehensive Education And Training In The Field Of Nursing.
Current Rn License: The Candidate Must Have A Current And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Connecticut. This License Must Be In Good Standing And Free Of Any Disciplinary Actions.
Certification In Maternal-Newborn Nursing: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Certification In Maternal-Newborn Nursing From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Nurses Credentialing Center (Ancc) Or The National Certification Corporation (Ncc).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Maternity Care: Yale New Haven Health System Requires At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Providing Care To Mothers And Newborns. This Experience Should Include Working In Labor And Delivery, Postpartum, And/Or Antepartum Units.
Bls And Nrp Certifications: The Candidate Must Have Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications. These Certifications Are Essential For Providing Emergency Care To Both Mothers And Newborns In The Maternity Unit.
