  1. Provide specialized care to patients in the ICU with a focus on meeting their complex medical needs.
  2. Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs, and promptly report any changes to the healthcare team.
  3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  5. Document patient progress and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping.
  6. Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and adhere to infection control protocols.
  8. Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations and provide critical care as needed.
  9. Stay current with the latest developments and trends in critical care nursing and continuously update knowledge and skills.
  10. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care at all times.
  11. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by effectively communicating and collaborating with colleagues and other healthcare team members.
  12. Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and respect for patients and their families, providing emotional support as needed.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing improvement of patient care.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Rn License In The State Of Connecticut: An Icu Registered Nurse At Yale New Haven Health System Must Have A Valid And Active Rn License In The State Of Connecticut.

  • Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Bsn Degree From An Accredited Nursing Program.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Icu Experience: Yale New Haven Health System Requires Candidates To Have At Least 2 Years Of Clinical Experience In An Icu Setting.

  • Bls And Acls Certification: Candidates Must Possess Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications.

  • Critical Care Certification (Ccrn): A Ccrn Certification Is Preferred But Not Required For The Icu Registered Nurse Position At Yale New Haven Health System.
