- Conduct childbirth education classes for expectant parents, providing them with accurate and up-to-date information on the childbirth process, prenatal care, and postpartum care.
- Develop and update curriculum and materials for childbirth education classes based on current best practices and evidence-based research.
- Provide individualized support and guidance to expectant parents, addressing their specific needs and concerns related to childbirth.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and midwives, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Serve as a resource for expectant parents, answering questions and providing referrals to additional resources as needed.
- Utilize various teaching methods, such as lectures, group discussions, videos, and hands-on activities, to engage and educate expectant parents.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of class attendance, participation, and evaluations.
- Stay current on developments and advancements in maternal health and childbirth practices to continuously improve the quality of education provided.
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to promote the importance of childbirth education and the services offered at Yale New Haven Health System.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for expectant parents, promoting open communication and addressing any concerns or conflicts that may arise.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In A Relevant Field Is Essential For A Childbirth Educator Position At Yale New Haven Health System. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Understanding Of Healthcare Principles And Can Effectively Educate Expectant Parents.
Certification In Childbirth Education: Candidates Should Have A Recognized Certification In Childbirth Education, Such As Lamaze Or Bradley, To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Expertise In This Area.
