  1. Conduct childbirth education classes for expectant parents, providing them with accurate and up-to-date information on the childbirth process, prenatal care, and postpartum care.
  2. Develop and update curriculum and materials for childbirth education classes based on current best practices and evidence-based research.
  3. Provide individualized support and guidance to expectant parents, addressing their specific needs and concerns related to childbirth.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and midwives, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
  5. Serve as a resource for expectant parents, answering questions and providing referrals to additional resources as needed.
  6. Utilize various teaching methods, such as lectures, group discussions, videos, and hands-on activities, to engage and educate expectant parents.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of class attendance, participation, and evaluations.
  8. Stay current on developments and advancements in maternal health and childbirth practices to continuously improve the quality of education provided.
  9. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to promote the importance of childbirth education and the services offered at Yale New Haven Health System.
  10. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for expectant parents, promoting open communication and addressing any concerns or conflicts that may arise.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In A Relevant Field Is Essential For A Childbirth Educator Position At Yale New Haven Health System. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Understanding Of Healthcare Principles And Can Effectively Educate Expectant Parents.

  • Certification In Childbirth Education: Candidates Should Have A Recognized Certification In Childbirth Education, Such As Lamaze Or Bradley, To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Expertise In This Area.

  • Knowledge Of Current Childbirth Practices And Trends: A Childbirth Educator At Yale New Haven Health System Must Stay Updated On The Latest Practices And Trends In Childbirth, Such As Evidence-Based Practices, Alternative Birthing Methods, And Postpartum Care.
