
Certified Child Life Specialist

- Provide emotional support and promote coping strategies for children and families facing medical procedures, hospitalization, and other challenging experiences.
- Create a supportive and therapeutic environment for child and family interaction.
- Utilize knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities to help children cope with medical procedures.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare team members to develop individualized plans of care for pediatric patients.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the psychological, social, and emotional needs of pediatric patients.
- Utilize play, art, music, and other techniques to help children express their thoughts and feelings.
- Educate and prepare children for medical procedures using developmentally appropriate language and techniques.
- Provide support and guidance for families, including siblings, during their child's hospital stay.
- Document and maintain accurate records of child life interventions and progress.
- Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to provide additional support and resources for pediatric patients and their families.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of child life.
- Comply with ethical and professional standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary rounds to provide input on patient care plans.
- Act as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families to ensure their needs are met.
- Foster a culture of compassion, empathy, and inclusivity within the healthcare team.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.
Completion Of A Child Life Internship Program Accredited By The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).
Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Designation From The Aclp.
Experience Working With Pediatric Patients And Families In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Coping Strategies, And Family-Centered Care Principles.
