Job Description

If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Yale New Haven Health System. As a part of our team, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise and skills to support and advocate for pediatric patients and their families. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual who is certified by the Association of Child Life Professionals and has a minimum of two years of clinical experience in a pediatric setting.   1. Implement play-based interventions to help children cope with medical procedures and hospitalization.
  2. Provide emotional support and education to pediatric patients and their families.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  4. Assess the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and provide appropriate interventions.
  5. Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare system.
  6. Educate and train staff and caregivers on child development and child life interventions.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
  9. Continuously evaluate and improve child life programs and services.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in child life and play-based interventions.
  11. Provide support and resources for families during difficult and challenging times.
  12. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to enhance services for pediatric patients and families.
  13. Attend trainings, conferences, and workshops to further enhance skills and knowledge.
  14. Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set by the Association of Child Life Professionals.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of patients and families.
  16. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  17. Support and assist with special events and activities for pediatric patients and families.
  18. Foster a positive and welcoming environment for pediatric patients and families.
  19. Communicate effectively with patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
  20. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and expand child life services within the organization.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Coping Mechanisms, And Family Dynamics.

  • Excellent Communication, Organization, And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Children, Families, And Healthcare Staff.
