  1. Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the acute care setting.
  2. Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on patient needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
  3. Implement evidence-based interventions and techniques to improve communication and swallowing abilities in patients.
  4. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  5. Educate patients and their families on strategies for managing communication and swallowing difficulties.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress.
  7. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  8. Stay updated on current research and developments in the field of speech-language pathology to inform and improve practice.
  9. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and preferences are addressed in their care.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide interdisciplinary and holistic care.
  11. Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  12. Promote and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  13. Represent Yale New Haven Health System in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology From An Accredited Institution.

  • Current State Licensure And Certification From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha).

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Acute Care Settings, Preferably In A Hospital Or Medical Center.

  • Knowledge And Experience With A Wide Range Of Communication And Swallowing Disorders In Adult And Geriatric Populations.

  • Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills, Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams, And Excellent Communication And Documentation Skills.
