
Acute Care Speech Language Pathologist

- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the acute care setting.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on patient needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Implement evidence-based interventions and techniques to improve communication and swallowing abilities in patients.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies for managing communication and swallowing difficulties.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Stay updated on current research and developments in the field of speech-language pathology to inform and improve practice.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and preferences are addressed in their care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide interdisciplinary and holistic care.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Promote and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Represent Yale New Haven Health System in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology From An Accredited Institution.
Current State Licensure And Certification From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha).
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Acute Care Settings, Preferably In A Hospital Or Medical Center.
Knowledge And Experience With A Wide Range Of Communication And Swallowing Disorders In Adult And Geriatric Populations.
Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills, Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams, And Excellent Communication And Documentation Skills.
