Job Description

Provide consulting and guidance for all new Yahoo applications and/or projects that affect network resources and provide consulting on existing application deployments. Design, Document, and Support end-to-end networking solutions to support global deployment of Yahoo services including Global backbone—WAN, Metro, Data Center—LAN. Provide training and implementation guidance on newly introduced technologies, designs, and equipment. Hands-on evaluation and testing of new platforms for Yahoo networking including development of test plans for current and next generation platforms, work closely with a team of test engineers through test cycles, and partner with industry vendors on next generation platforms that will meet Yahoo’s needs in the future platform selection. Continued support for all Yahoo technology, design, and platforms. Contribute to automation framework for network configuration and troubleshooting.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience with large scale global network (production, backbone and corporate) environments.

  • Strong hands on knowledge and experience in layer 1 - Fiber Optic, OTDR, BERT, WDM, ROADM, etc

  • Experience managing enterprise LAN/WAN, wireless, authentication, and VPN infrastructures

  • Strong knowledge in TCP/IP, L2/L3 protocols, LAN, Spanning-tree, WAN, Metro, IPv4, IPv6, BGP, ISIS

  • Knowledge of source code management systems, version control tools and developing web services
