Job Description

The West Virginia United Health System is seeking an experienced and passionate Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have a background in sterile processing and a commitment to excellence, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Required Qualifications:• Associate’s degree in sterile processing or related field or equivalent experience• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)• Knowledge of the principles of sterile processing• Ability to read, interpret and accurately follow instructions• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and customers• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Read, interpret, and follow instructions in order to comply with sterilization protocols.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  4. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes.
  5. Monitor and inspect sterilized instruments for any damage or defects.
  6. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
  7. Train and mentor new personnel on sterile processing procedures.
  8. Keep up-to-date on the latest regulations and best practices related to sterile processing.
  9. Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
  10. Assist with any other duties as assigned by management.
