Job Description

At West Virginia United Health System, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Registration Specialist to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare services, the ability to multi-task, and exceptional customer service and communication skills. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our patient-centered care and will be responsible for ensuring accurate patient information is acquired and maintained. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare office setting, and a strong customer service background. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding is a plus. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Register patients according to established protocols and ensure accuracy of patient information.
  2. Confirm insurance information and verify patient eligibility for services.
  3. Maintain accurate patient records and provide data entry services to ensure accuracy.
  4. Answer patient questions related to registration and provide customer service with a high level of professionalism.
  5. Communicate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient flow of patient information.
  6. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws.
  7. Monitor and update patient information in the system.
  8. Assist with billing and coding functions as needed.
  9. Ensure timely payment of patient accounts.
  10. Respond to any customer service issues in a timely manner.
