Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Medical Technologist- Cytogenetics to join our West Virginia United Health System team! Our ideal candidate will be passionate about providing quality patient care and have a commitment to excellence. As the Medical Technologist- Cytogenetics, you will be responsible for performing cytogenetic analyses on biological specimens, including producing karyotypes, identifying chromosome abnormalities, and preparing slides for microscopic examination. The successful candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, have strong analytical skills, and be able to work independently.To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field, be certified as a Medical Technologist by the ASCP or have equivalent qualifications, and have at least one year of experience in cytogenetics. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform cytogenetic analyses on biological specimens, including producing karyotypes and identifying chromosome abnormalities
  2. Prepare slides for microscopic examination
  3. Maintain accurate records and generate reports
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  5. Analyze and interpret results
  6. Ensure compliance with laboratory quality assurance standards
  7. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
  8. Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals
  9. Provide quality patient care with a commitment to excellence
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information
