Job Description

West Virginia United Health System is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Claims Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our Finance Department, the Insurance Claims Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely insurance claims processing. The successful candidate must have excellent problem-solving and organization skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a healthcare setting and a strong understanding of insurance billing and claims processing procedures. Responsibilities:

  1. Receive and process insurance claims in accordance with established procedures.
  2. Ensure accuracy of billing information and verify eligibility of patients for insurance coverage.
  3. Analyze and resolve complex insurance claims issues.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance billing and coding regulations and procedures.
  5. Communicate with insurance providers regarding payment status and other inquiries.
  6. Monitor and follow up on unpaid insurance claims.
  7. Assist with audits and other insurance related functions.
  8. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  9. Develop and implement strategies to improve insurance claims processing efficiency.
  10. Maintain accurate records of insurance claims processing activities.
