- Provide compassionate and dedicated care to animals in our veterinary clinic.
- Assist the veterinary technicians and veterinarians in various procedures and treatments.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote the health and safety of animals and staff.
- Handle and restrain animals in a safe and humane manner.
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for procedures and treatments.
- Assist with administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide support and comfort to animals and their owners during their time in the clinic.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent the spread of disease and maintain a safe environment.
- Continuously strive to improve skills and knowledge in veterinary medicine through training and education opportunities.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and client satisfaction.
- Uphold the values and mission of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and client information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the veterinarian or clinic manager.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For A Veterinary Technician Assistant Position At Washington State University.
Previous Experience In A Veterinary Or Animal Care Setting: Applicants Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Veterinary Clinic, Animal Shelter, Or Other Animal Care Setting To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Skills In Animal Handling And Basic Medical Procedures.
Knowledge Of Veterinary Terminology And Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Veterinary Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For A Veterinary Technician Assistant To Assist With Medical Procedures And Communicate Effectively With Veterinarians And Other Staff.
Ability To Lift And Restrain Large Animals: This Position May Require Handling And Restraining Large Animals, So Candidates Must Be Physically Able To Lift And Handle These Animals Safely And Effectively.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: A Successful Veterinary Technician Assistant Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With A Variety Of People, Including Veterinarians, Colleagues, And Pet Owners. They Should Also Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment And Follow Directions From Superiors.
