  1. Provide compassionate and dedicated care to animals in our veterinary clinic.
  2. Assist the veterinary technicians and veterinarians in various procedures and treatments.
  3. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote the health and safety of animals and staff.
  5. Handle and restrain animals in a safe and humane manner.
  6. Monitor and record vital signs of animals during examinations and procedures.
  7. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for procedures and treatments.
  8. Assist with administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  9. Provide support and comfort to animals and their owners during their time in the clinic.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent the spread of disease and maintain a safe environment.
  11. Continuously strive to improve skills and knowledge in veterinary medicine through training and education opportunities.
  12. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and client satisfaction.
  13. Uphold the values and mission of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of all patient and client information.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the veterinarian or clinic manager.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For A Veterinary Technician Assistant Position At Washington State University.

  • Previous Experience In A Veterinary Or Animal Care Setting: Applicants Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Veterinary Clinic, Animal Shelter, Or Other Animal Care Setting To Demonstrate Their Knowledge And Skills In Animal Handling And Basic Medical Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Veterinary Terminology And Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Veterinary Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For A Veterinary Technician Assistant To Assist With Medical Procedures And Communicate Effectively With Veterinarians And Other Staff.

  • Ability To Lift And Restrain Large Animals: This Position May Require Handling And Restraining Large Animals, So Candidates Must Be Physically Able To Lift And Handle These Animals Safely And Effectively.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: A Successful Veterinary Technician Assistant Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With A Variety Of People, Including Veterinarians, Colleagues, And Pet Owners. They Should Also Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment And Follow Directions From Superiors.
