
Regional Extension Agronomist

- Develop and implement educational programs and resources for farmers in the Pacific Northwest region to improve their agricultural practices.
- Conduct research and stay current on industry trends and advancements in agronomy to provide relevant and up-to-date information to farmers.
- Collaborate with other extension agents and university faculty to develop and deliver educational workshops, seminars, and field demonstrations.
- Provide one-on-one consultations and support to individual farmers to address their specific needs and challenges.
- Build and maintain relationships with local farmers, agricultural organizations, and industry stakeholders to understand their needs and effectively communicate with them.
- Collect and analyze data on agricultural practices and outcomes in the region to inform future programming and research efforts.
- Write and publish educational materials, including articles, fact sheets, and guides, for distribution to farmers and the general public.
- Represent Washington State University at relevant conferences, workshops, and other industry events to promote the extension program and network with other professionals.
- Stay informed on funding opportunities and assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for extension programs.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness and impact of extension programs and initiatives.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Agronomy, Crop Science, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In An Agricultural Extension Role Or Similar Position.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Crop Production Systems, Soil And Water Management, And Pest Management Strategies.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Engage And Educate Farmers, Stakeholders, And Community Members.
Experience With Data Collection, Analysis, And Reporting, As Well As Proficiency In Relevant Software And Technology.
