Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a College Access Coach for TRiO Talent Search at Washington State University.As a College Access Coach, you will play a crucial role in empowering and guiding underrepresented high school students on their path to college. By providing personalized support, resources, and mentorship, you will help students navigate the complex college application process and equip them with the tools they need to succeed in higher education.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience working with diverse student populations. You should also possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of financial aid, scholarships, and college admissions requirements.   1. Provide personalized support and guidance to underrepresented high school students on their journey to college.
  2. Empower and motivate students to reach their full potential and achieve their educational goals.
  3. Utilize a strong understanding of the college admissions process to assist students in navigating the application process.
  4. Build relationships with students and serve as a mentor to help them overcome any barriers to higher education.
  5. Stay up-to-date on financial aid, scholarships, and college admissions requirements to effectively advise students.
  6. Collaborate with school counselors and other educational professionals to identify and support students who would benefit from TRiO Talent Search services.
  7. Plan and facilitate workshops, events, and other activities to educate students and families about the college application process.
  8. Monitor and track students' progress and provide regular updates to program coordinators and school partners.
  9. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
  10. Serve as a positive role model and advocate for higher education accessibility and equity.
  11. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and program activities.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve program services to best meet the needs of students.
  13. Collaborate with program staff and university resources to connect students with academic and personal support services.
  14. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to college access and student success.
  15. Adhere to program policies and procedures and represent the program and university in a professional and ethical manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Education, Counseling, Social Work, Or Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Low-Income, First-Generation, Or Underrepresented Students In An Educational Setting

  • Knowledge Of College Admissions, Financial Aid, And Scholarship Processes

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Engage With Students, Families, And Community Partners

  • Experience Developing And Implementing Workshops, Events, And Resources To Support Students In Navigating The College Application And Enrollment Process.
