Principal Engineer - Digital Accessibility Quality Assurance

Verizon is looking for an experienced and passionate Principal Engineer - Digital Accessibility Quality Assurance to join our team. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant engineering field• 8+ years of experience in software engineering and/or QA, with at least 3 years focused on accessibility• Expert knowledge of accessibility guidelines, standards, and best practices• Experience with automated and manual accessibility testing tools• Experience in an Agile software development environment• Excellent communication and organizational skills• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage day-to-day activities of the Accessibility team to ensure digital products and services are accessible to people of all abilities.
2. Utilize automated and manual accessibility testing tools to identify potential accessibility issues.
3. Maintain knowledge of current accessibility guidelines, standards, and best practices.
4. Facilitate and promote accessibility awareness and education.
5. Lead accessibility initiatives, including but not limited to; creating and driving processes, standards, and policies.
6. Collaborate with development, design, and other teams to ensure accessibility standards are met.
7. Develop and implement accessibility testing plans.
8. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
9. Monitor industry trends related to digital accessibility and recommend improvements.
10. Participate in code reviews to ensure accessibility compliance.
