- Assist surgeons during ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Provide direct patient care, including pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as routine eye exams and screenings.
- Obtain and document patient medical history, perform diagnostic tests, and record measurements and observations.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and post-operative instructions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating appointments and surgeries.
- Stay current on industry developments, new technologies, and advancements in ophthalmic care to provide the best possible care to patients.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor while interacting with patients and their families.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Train and oversee new ophthalmic assistants and provide guidance and support to other team members.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Continuously strive to improve processes and efficiency within the department.

Certification As A Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa) From The Joint Commission On Allied Health Personnel In Ophthalmology (Jcahpo).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In Vascular Surgery.
Proficient In Performing A Variety Of Ophthalmic Procedures, Including Tonometry, Visual Acuity Testing, And Surgical Assisting.
Knowledge Of Surgical Instruments And Equipment Used In Vascular Surgery, As Well As Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.
Excellent Communication And Patient Care Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Fast-Paced, Team-Oriented Environment.
