Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Surgical Clinical Office Assistant - Vascular Surgery to join the team at UVM Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the health care field and enjoys providing excellent patient care. The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative support to the vascular surgery department, helping to ensure efficient and organized operations.The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have a strong attention to detail. They must also have prior experience in a medical office setting, and be well-versed in medical terminology and medical office procedures. A professional and positive demeanor is essential, as the successful candidate will be interacting with patients and other medical staff on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative support to the vascular surgery department, including scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient records.
  2. Ensure efficient and organized operations of the vascular surgery department by monitoring supplies, ordering equipment, and managing workflow.
  3. Provide excellent patient care by answering questions, responding to requests, and providing appropriate referrals.
  4. Greet patients and other medical staff in a professional and friendly manner.
  5. Utilize medical terminology and medical office procedures appropriately when interacting with patients and other medical personnel.
  6. Update and maintain patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  7. Assist with billing and coding as needed.
  8. Troubleshoot technical issues and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  9. Follow all HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.
  10. Ensure the safety and security of patient and staff by monitoring the facility and responding to emergencies.
