Job Description

At UVM Medical Center, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This critical role provides direct care to premature and critically ill newborns and their families, and requires an individual who has a deep understanding of the specialized care these infants require. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care to our patients and their families. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: current licensure in the state of Vermont as a Registered Nurse; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field; NICU experience and/or certification; and knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards of practice relevant to the NICU setting. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct care to premature and critically ill newborns and their families.
  2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by attending physicians.
  3. Monitor patient progress and report any changes in condition to the NICU team.
  4. Maintain a safe and clean environment for newborns in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  5. Educate patients and their families on the care and management of their infant.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of care for patients.
  7. Ensure accurate documentation of patient care and treatments.
  8. Follow established protocols and procedures for the NICU setting.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
  10. Participate in professional development activities to stay current on new developments in the NICU field.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Licensure As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Vermont

  • Completion Of A Nursing Program From An Accredited College Or University

  • At Least Two Years Of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicu) Experience

  • Knowledge Of Nicu Standards And Requirements

  • Demonstrated Ability To Provide Trauma Informed Care
