- Dispensing and monitoring medications: The primary responsibility of the Pharmacist will be to accurately and safely dispense prescribed medications to patients, while also ensuring proper dosing and monitoring for any potential drug interactions or adverse effects.
- Collaborating with healthcare team: The Pharmacist will work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and nurses, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care. This may include providing medication education and recommendations for alternative treatments.
- Maintaining inventory and accuracy: The Pharmacist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of medication inventory, ordering and restocking medications, and ensuring proper storage and disposal of expired or unused medications.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations: It is the Pharmacist's responsibility to stay up-to-date with all federal and state regulations related to pharmacy practice, and ensure compliance with these regulations within the healthcare facility.
- Providing patient education: The Pharmacist will be responsible for educating patients and their families on medication usage, potential side effects, and proper administration techniques to ensure safe and effective use of medications.
- Contributing to quality improvement: The Pharmacist will play a key role in identifying and reporting medication errors and adverse drug reactions to improve patient safety and quality of care within the healthcare facility.
- Staying current on industry developments: The Pharmacist will be expected to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and advancements in pharmacy practice, and incorporate this knowledge into their work to provide the best possible care to patients.
- Maintaining professional standards: The Pharmacist will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all aspects of their work, including confidentiality and respect for patient rights.

Doctor Of Pharmacy (Pharmd) Degree From An Accredited Institution: A Pharmd Degree Is The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Pharmacist Position At Uvm Medical Center. This Degree Prepares Pharmacists With The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Patient Care And Medication Management.
State Licensure: All Pharmacists At Uvm Medical Center Must Hold A Valid And Current License To Practice Pharmacy In The State Of Vermont. This Ensures That They Are Qualified And Authorized To Dispense Medications And Provide Pharmaceutical Care To Patients.
Clinical Experience Or Residency Training: Uvm Medical Center Prefers Candidates With Prior Clinical Experience Or Residency Training In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting. This Experience Helps Pharmacists To Understand The Complexities Of Patient Care And Develop Critical Thinking Skills Necessary For Medication Management.
