
Patient Financial Advocate
The UVM Medical Center is looking for a skilled, passionate Patient Financial Advocate to join our team and help ensure our patients receive the best possible financial experience with their care. The ideal candidate must have an eye for detail, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to providing the highest quality care. If you have experience in patient billing, accounting, or medical insurance, we’d love to hear from you.In this role, you’ll serve as an advocate for our patients by providing financial assistance and guidance. You’ll answer patient questions about their bills, explain billing processes, dispute charges, and help patients apply for financial aid. You’ll also negotiate insurance coverage and payment plans and ensure proper documentation and accuracy. With your passion and expertise, you’ll ensure our patients feel supported and well-informed during their financial journey.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding bills, payment plans, and insurance coverage.
- Research and dispute incorrect charges to help patients save money.
- Assist patients in filling out financial aid applications.
- Negotiate insurance coverage and payment plans with insurers.
- Ensure accuracy of all documentation related to patient billing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare billing and insurance regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure patients have a positive experience.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing issues.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
