As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in our healthcare system by assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to our inpatient population.   1. Prepare and dispense medications to inpatients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  2. Accurately enter and maintain patient and medication information in the electronic health record system.
  3. Help maintain an organized and clean work environment in the pharmacy.
  4. Assist with inventory management and ordering of medications and supplies.
  5. Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate medication delivery to patients.
  7. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, their families, and healthcare staff.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on pharmacy practices and procedures.
  9. Identify and report any medication errors or discrepancies to the pharmacist.
  10. Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of medications and hazardous materials.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  12. Act as a resource for patients and staff regarding medication information and potential side effects.
  13. Assist with billing and insurance processes as needed.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the pharmacy.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically Required For A Pharmacy Technician Position At Uvm Medical Center. This Shows A Basic Level Of Education And Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Mathematics, Science, And English.

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (Cpht) Certification: Most Employers, Including Uvm Medical Center, Prefer Candidates Who Hold A Cpht Certification. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Requirements And Has The Knowledge And Skills To Be A Competent Pharmacy Technician.

  • Experience In An Inpatient Pharmacy Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Hospital Or Inpatient Pharmacy Setting Is Highly Desirable For This Position. It Shows That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Specific Processes And Protocols Involved In Managing Medication For Hospitalized Patients.

  • Knowledge Of Pharmacy Software And Technology: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians At Uvm Medical Center Are Expected To Be Proficient In Using Pharmacy Software And Technology, Such As Electronic Health Records And Medication Dispensing Systems. Candidates With Previous Experience Using These Systems Will Have An Advantage.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians Need To Be Extremely Detail-Oriented And Accurate In Their Work. They Are Responsible For Preparing And Dispensing Medication For Patients, And Any Errors Could Have Serious Consequences.
