- Accurately and efficiently code emergency department patient records using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
- Ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for the hospital by accurately coding medical records.
- Maintain compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, including HIPAA and other healthcare industry standards.
- Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to meet coding deadlines and maintain productivity.
- Collaborate with other team members, including physicians and nurses, to clarify coding questions and ensure accurate coding.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices.
- Adhere to the University of Vermont Medical Center's coding policies and procedures.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accurate and complete coding of patient records.
- Work with electronic health records and coding software to accurately assign codes to patient records.
- Communicate any coding discrepancies or issues to the appropriate parties for resolution.
- Participate in training and educational opportunities to continuously improve coding skills and knowledge.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy laws and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the HIM manager or coding supervisor.
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality and accuracy in all coding practices.
Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Credential From Ahima Or Aapc.
Minimum Of 2 Years Coding Experience In An Emergency Department Setting.
Knowledge Of Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems.
Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems, Particularly Epic.
Understanding Of Emergency Department Workflows And Documentation Requirements.
