Job Description

Welcome to the UVM Medical Center, where we prioritize the well-being of our employees and their families. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counselor for our Employee and Family Assistance Program. In this hybrid role, you will have the opportunity to provide support and guidance to our employees and their loved ones through a variety of counseling services.   1. Provide counseling services to employees and their families through in-person and virtual sessions.
  2. Conduct initial assessments to determine the needs of each individual and develop personalized treatment plans.
  3. Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address mental health concerns and promote overall well-being.
  4. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  6. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all counseling sessions and treatment plans.
  7. Educate employees and their families about mental health and wellness, including self-care strategies and coping mechanisms.
  8. Provide crisis intervention and support for individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes.
  9. Serve as a resource for managers and supervisors on how to support employees with mental health concerns.
  10. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
  11. Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in all interactions with employees and their families.
  12. Contribute to the development and implementation of employee wellness programs and initiatives.
  13. Collaborate with human resources to provide support during times of organizational change or employee transitions.
  14. Act as an advocate for employees and their families, ensuring their needs are being met and their voices are heard.
  15. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees and families seeking counseling services.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Foundation In Counseling And Mental Health Is Essential For A Counselor Employee And Family Assistance Program - Hybrid Job. A Master's Degree In A Relevant Field Demonstrates A Deep Understanding Of Counseling Techniques And Theories.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Counseling Experience: To Effectively Support Employees And Their Families, A Counselor Employee And Family Assistance Program - Hybrid Should Have A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Counseling. This Experience Should Include Working With Diverse Populations And A Variety Of Mental Health Concerns.

  • Experience In Employee Assistance Programs: A Strong Understanding Of Employee Assistance Programs Is Crucial For This Role. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience Working In An Employee Assistance Program, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge Of Family Dynamics And Systems Theory: As A Counselor Employee And Family Assistance Program - Hybrid, The Employee Will Be Working With Both Individuals And Their Families. Therefore, A Strong Understanding Of Family Dynamics And Systems Theory Is Essential To Effectively Support Both The Employee And Their Family.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Build Rapport And Establish Trust With Clients. Strong Active Listening Skills, Empathy, And The Ability To Provide Non-Judgmental Support Are Crucial In This Role.
