- Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
- Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating their needs, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Provide necessary support to the entire surgical team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and assist with positioning and prepping patients for surgery.
- Anticipate potential complications and take appropriate actions to prevent them during surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of surgical instruments and supplies to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
- Continuously update and maintain knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect patient rights and privacy throughout all stages of care.

Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technology Program: A Certified Surgical Technologist At Uvm Medical Center Must Have Successfully Completed An Accredited Program In Surgical Technology, Ensuring They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Assist In Surgical Procedures.
National Certification: Candidates Must Have Current Certification From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) As A Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst).
Operating Room Experience: Uvm Medical Center Seeks Candidates With A Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience Working In An Operating Room Setting. This Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle The Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment Of A Surgical Setting.
Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Surgical Procedures, Including The Instruments, Equipment, And Supplies Used In Various Surgical Specialties. This Knowledge Is Essential In Ensuring A Safe And Efficient Surgical Experience For Patients.
