Job Description

Welcome to the University of Southern California! We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Clinical Sport Psychology Services - Associate/Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Clinician Educator).   1. Develop and implement a comprehensive clinical sport psychology program for student-athletes at the university.
  2. Provide individual and group therapy sessions to student-athletes, addressing mental health concerns such as performance anxiety, stress management, and coping with injuries.
  3. Collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, and medical staff to provide a holistic approach to supporting student-athletes' mental health.
  4. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the mental health needs of student-athletes and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  5. Teach courses related to clinical sport psychology and provide supervision and mentorship to graduate students in the field.
  6. Conduct research in the area of sport psychology and contribute to the academic excellence of the university through publications and presentations.
  7. Stay current with developments and best practices in the field of clinical sport psychology and incorporate them into services and teaching.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with other departments, organizations, and professionals to enhance the visibility and impact of the clinical sport psychology program.
  9. Participate in departmental and university committees and meetings to contribute to the overall mission and goals of the university.
  10. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations.
  11. Serve as a role model and mentor for students, promoting professionalism, ethical behavior, and a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
  12. Represent the university and the clinical sport psychology program at conferences, workshops, and other professional events.
  13. Collaborate with the university's marketing and communication team to promote and raise awareness of the clinical sport psychology program.
  14. Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the program and make necessary changes to ensure the best services for student-athletes.
  15. Perform any other duties as assigned by the department chair or university administration.

Job Qualifications
  • Licensure As A Clinical Psychologist In The State Of California.

  • Doctoral Degree In Clinical Psychology Or Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Providing Clinical Sport Psychology Services To Athletes And Teams.

  • Demonstrated Expertise In Evidence-Based Practices For Treating Sport-Related Mental Health Issues.

  • Experience Supervising And Mentoring Graduate Students In Clinical Psychology Or Related Fields.
