
Stage Technician

- Set up and operate lighting, sound, and other technical equipment for stage productions and events.
- Collaborate with directors, performers, and other technical staff to ensure a cohesive and successful production.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and make necessary adjustments during performances to ensure a seamless experience for the audience.
- Maintain and organize all technical equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to ensure the well-being of performers, crew, and audience members.
- Help load in and load out equipment for productions and events.
- Assist with set construction, rigging, and other technical aspects of productions as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in stage technology.
- Communicate effectively with team members and provide support as needed.
- Uphold the standards and values of the University of Southern California and represent the institution in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the job.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons and guests attending performances and events.
- Attend rehearsals, meetings, and trainings as required.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude towards fellow staff members and performers.
- Other duties as assigned by the stage manager or production team.
Experience In Theater And/Or Event Production: A Stage Technician At Usc Should Have A Strong Background In Theater Production, Including Experience Working With Lighting, Sound, And Set Design. Familiarity With Event Production, Such As Concerts Or Guest Lectures, Is Also Beneficial.
Technical Knowledge And Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Technical Equipment Used In Stage Productions, Such As Lighting Consoles, Soundboards, And Rigging Systems. They Should Also Be Proficient In Troubleshooting Technical Issues And Have The Ability To Quickly Learn New Equipment.
Attention To Detail: Stage Technicians Must Be Detail-Oriented In Order To Ensure That All Technical Aspects Of A Production Run Smoothly. This Includes Closely Following Scripts And Cues, As Well As Checking And Maintaining Equipment To Ensure It Is Functioning Properly.
Physical Stamina And Flexibility: This Job Often Requires Long Hours And Physically Demanding Work, Such As Lifting Heavy Equipment And Climbing Ladders. Stage Technicians Should Be Able To Handle These Tasks With Ease And Have The Physical Stamina To Work On Their Feet For Extended Periods Of Time.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: Stage Technicians Work Closely With Directors, Actors, And Other Crew Members, So Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential. They Must Be Able To Take Direction Well And Collaborate Effectively To Ensure A Successful Production.
