- Develop and implement employee and labor relations strategies and policies to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Provide expert guidance and support to managers and supervisors on employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to employee and labor relations.
- Collaborate with various departments to address and resolve employee relations issues and concerns.
- Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations topics for managers and employees.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records related to employee and labor relations.
- Communicate and interpret HR policies and procedures to employees and management.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and provide support to management during the process.
- Handle complex and sensitive employee relations issues with tact, empathy, and discretion.
- Assist in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive work culture.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Maintain positive working relationships with unions and other labor organizations.
- Act as a resource and advisor to the HR team on employee and labor relations matters.
- Regularly evaluate and assess employee relations processes and make recommendations for improvement.
A Bachelor's Degree In Human Resources Or A Related Field: A Sr. Employee And Labor Relations Specialist At Usc Should Possess A Strong Educational Background In The Field Of Human Resources, With A Focus On Employee And Labor Relations.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Employee And Labor Relations: This Position Requires A Candidate With A Proven Track Record In Managing Employee And Labor Relations In A Complex Organization, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting.
Extensive Knowledge Of Employment Laws And Regulations: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal And State Employment Laws, Including But Not Limited To Title Vii, Fmla, Ada, And Flsa.
Exceptional Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Usc Values Effective Communication And Collaboration, And A Sr. Employee And Labor Relations Specialist Should Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Manage Relationships With Employees, Labor Unions, And Other Stakeholders.
Experience In Conflict Resolution And Mediation: This Role Involves Handling Sensitive Employee And Labor Relations Issues, And The Ability To Effectively Resolve Conflicts And Mediate Disputes Is Crucial For Success In This Position. Previous Experience In Conflict Resolution And Mediation Is Highly Preferred.
