- Monitor and patrol designated areas on campus to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to any security incidents, emergencies, or violations of university policies.
- Enforce campus rules and regulations, including parking and access control, to maintain a secure and orderly environment.
- Monitor and control access to university facilities, including checking identification and issuing visitor passes.
- Conduct regular inspections of campus buildings and grounds to identify and report any potential security risks.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all security-related incidents and activities.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services in the event of a major security incident.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting individuals on campus and providing information and directions as needed.
- Continuously assess and improve security procedures and protocols to ensure the highest level of safety for the campus community.
- Attend training and professional development workshops to stay informed of current security practices and procedures.
- Act as a positive role model for the campus community, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to safety and security.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and adherence to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to security and safety.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Security Operations: Candidates Should Possess A Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Security Operations, Preferably In A University Or Educational Setting. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Security Protocols, Emergency Response Procedures, And Surveillance Techniques.
Completion Of Relevant Training And Certification Programs: Candidates Should Have Completed Relevant Training And Certification Programs In Security Operations, Emergency Response, And Threat Assessment. This May Include Certifications Such As Certified Protection Professional (Cpp) Or Certified Institutional Protection Manager (Cipm).
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Security Officer At University Of Southern California, Candidates Must Possess Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills In Order To Effectively Interact With Students, Faculty, And Staff. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Write Detailed Reports And Communicate Effectively In Emergency Situations.
Ability To Work Flexible Hours: The Security Officer Position At University Of Southern California May Require Candidates To Work Flexible Hours, Including Nights, Weekends, And Holidays. Candidates Should Be Able To Adapt To Changing Schedules And Be Available For Emergency Situations.
